food revolution!

Someone commented last week about the foods that kids are being served in schools these days… I don’t actually have kids, but know that a lot of my nutrition and fitness struggles stem from bad habits formed in my early years.  I also know that kids are getting outside less and eating more garbage than ever before, so it’s no wonder our children are chubby, sluggish, and suffering from all kinds of illnesses.

I was watching TV a few nights ago and saw an ad for a new show coming out soon…

I’ve heard of him before, but never really knew much about him, so I checked out his website.  He’s AWESOME!  He’s started a petition to demand that schools across the US start serving more nutritious foods made with fresher ingredients.  Check it out here:  Jamie Oliver ROCKS!

I’ve seen Jamie Oliver and LOVE him! Keeps everything simple and FRESH. It’s great that he’s doing that for school lunches. I was horrified at what Ashley’s school had to offer and at the PRICES they wanted. And go figure, the worse the food was, the cheaper it was. Cost more for an apple and a banana than for fried chicken-ish nuggets.

Sounds like a show I would really enjoy. Is Jamie Oliver The Naked Chef (as in naked/real ingredients)?
Our entire agricultural system (one that we have pushed to all other industrializing/industrialized nations) is based on the idea of cheap food, not nutritious foods. The idea was to maxmize production. Look where that got us.
And, how do we move away from this? Is there hope?

yep, that’s the same guy! and yeah, it’s amazing how much garbage we’ve gotten used to. I think more and more people are starting to take notice these days… can’t wait to see how people react to this new series!
